City of Goldsboro issued the following announcement on Oct. 21. 

On Thursday, Oct. 21, the Mayor’s Committee for Persons with Disabilities and the city’s Community Relations and Development Department held its Annual Mayor’s Disability Awards Ceremony at The HUB. The highlight of this annual event is the presentation of awards/recognition of those persons and businesses that have either overcome their disabilities or have gone the extra mile to serve or work with people with disabilities.

This year’s winners are:

■ Employer of the Year — Firehouse Subs

■ Employee of the Year — Carmen Vickory

■ Most Accessible Business — Wingstop

■ Committee Member of the Year — Wanda Becton

â–  Mayor’s Trophy — Mayor Chuck Allen
