City of Goldsboro issued the following announcement on May 9.

Crews will temporarily close two Goldsboro-area roads next week to upgrade the drainage systems.

A contractor for the N.C. Department of Transportation plans to first close Salem Church Road between Stoney Hill and Buck Swamp roads, north of town, beginning at 8 a.m. Monday. The failing crossline pipe underneath the road will be replaced with a larger pipe.

The contractor plans to complete the project and reopen the road by Tuesday or Wednesday.

After the road is reopened, the same contractor then will proceed the following day to close N.C. 222 between Hooks Road and Interstate 795 for a similar drainage upgrade that also will take two or three days to complete. If all goes according to plan, this second site will be reopened by next Friday, May 20.
