City of Goldsboro issued the following announcement on Sep 5.

The City of Goldsboro’s Water Treatment Plant has ceased feeding ammonia and is converting to free chlorine for disinfection. We will discontinue the feed for a brief maintenance period and notification will occur before switching back to chloramines. Free chlorine is a much stronger disinfectant than chloramines and this conversion is implemented to further safeguard the City’s water supply. If you have any questions or concerns about this conversion, please contact the Water Treatment Plant at (919)734-3757.
