COUNTY OF DUPLIN: Board Member Vacancy To Fill An Unexpired Term That Will Run Through March 31, 2023

County of Duplin issued the following announcement on Mar. 28.

The Duplin County Board of Equalization and Review has a board member vacancy to fill an unexpired term that will run through March 31, 2023. The Board of Equalization and Review is charged with hearing appeals of taxpayers on assessed values and also reviews current assessments made by the Tax Administrator.  

Appointments to the Board of Equalization and Review are for two (2) year terms and appointments are made by the Board of Commissioners.  The qualifications for appointment are that the nominee should be of good moral character, shall have resided in Duplin County at least two (2) consecutive years prior to the appointment, shall remain a resident of Duplin County for the duration of service as a member, and shall be knowledgeable of real estate and/or personal property valuation matters.  The Board of Equalization and Review is currently scheduled to meet on April 21, 2022, and May 12, 2022.  Typically, there are also meetings held in September and December each year.
