County of Sampson issued the following announcement on March 23.

Recently we recognized 2 of our telecommunicators for an outstanding job they done on 2 911 calls we received.

In the picture on the left, telecommunicator Magaly Escamilla (middle) was recognized for giving pre-arrival birthing instructions through our Emergency Medical Dispatch protocols.

Magaly received a 911 call for a mother in labor on February 28th, 2023 and quickly utilized our protocols assisting the caller until EMS could arrive on-scene, shortly after EMS’s arrival a healthy baby boy was delivered.

In the picture on the right, telecommunicator Marie Mclamb (second from left) was recognized for her extra effort in getting a suicidal caller help on January 27th, 2023 that had called the Crisis Suicide hotline.

They had called our agency and Marie quickly realized that the caller was calling from out of state and she quickly notified the proper agency to get the caller the proper help needed. Outstanding job by both!
