0Comments

County of Wayne issued the following announcement on Apr. 29.

Wayne County Animal Services will be hosting four rabies clinics in May to encourage residents to have their pets vaccinated for only $5. North Carolina General Statute 130A-185 requires that any owner of a dog, cat or ferret shall have their animal vaccinated by four months of age and keep the animal currently vaccinated against rabies.

Residents may visit any of the locations below to have their dog or cat vaccinated:

Saturday, May 7, 2022

8:30AM – 11:30AM Spring Creek High School (Front Parking Lot)

1:30PM – 4:30PM Northwest Elementary School (Staff Parking Lot)

Saturday, May 14, 2022

8:30AM – 11:30AM Eastern Wayne High School (Front Parking Lot)

1:30PM – 4:30PM Grantham Elementary School (Front Parking Lot)

“Rabies vaccines are very important to take care of,” said Graham Price, animal services director. “The Rabies Virus can be fatal in pets and humans too. These events are a great time to get your pets vaccinated at an affordable price.”

Any animal receiving its first rabies vaccination should be re-vaccinated one year from the first vaccination date and every three years after that. Proof of prior rabies vaccination is required to receive a three-year vaccination. If proof is not provided, a one-year vaccination will be given. Please bring a driver’s license or ID for faster service at the clinic. The rabies clinics will be accepting cash only.
