FOIA Request to Lenoir County Election Department Regarding Information on Upcoming Election Candidates on February 5, 2025.

As part of our ongoing commitment to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at EC North Carolina News have sent a request under the North Carolina Public Records Law, G.S. §132-1., to the Lenoir County Election Department.

The information requested includes a list of all candidates running in the upcoming election. We’ve asked for specifics such as the candidate’s first, middle, and last names, the office they are running for, jurisdiction of the office, and their party affiliation.

In addition to this basic information about each candidate, we’ve also requested contact details for each individual. This includes their address, phone number, and email address.

Access to public records is essential for us at EC North Carolina News to fulfill our professional responsibilities. These include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. Given our role in disseminating information, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as media professionals.
