As the coronavirus pandemic spreads, uprooting life throughout the nation and many parts of the world, legislators such as State Rep. John Bell, IV (R-Wayne) are working to offset the damages.

Bell is reminding North Carolina business owners about the state's COVID-19 Rapid Recovery Loan Program designed to aid small businesses.

The Golden LEAF Foundation and partners launched the loan program on March 24, however, the organization recently posted that it is seeking more funding because of high demand.

"We have received applications in excess of our current funding and are actively seeking additional funding to expand the program," Golden LEAF posted to its website.

The Rapid Recovery Loan Program offers financing up to $50,000 with no interest or payment for six months. Businesses only need one employee, and it can be self-employed, to apply. Businesses need to have opened March 23 or before.

Bell also set aside time from focusing on the pandemic to wish the state’s National Guard a happy birthday on his Facebook page.

The National Guard turned 357 years old on March 24. Bell thanked its past and present guardsmen for their work in assisting with natural disasters and defending the nation’s freedom.
