Students attending Wayne Community College can take advantage of the Governor’s Emergency Education Relief (GEER) Scholarship to receive up to $750 toward completing a short-term training pathway.
Courses must be at least 96 hours in length and lead to an industry-recognized or state credential, the college said in a November Facebook post. Students can use the money to cover expenses that include “course tuition, fees, books, supplies, credentialing tests, transportation, childcare and other costs of attendance.”
Wayne has 10 occupational pathways in its Workforce Continuing Education Division that meet the eligibility requirements, the college said in the Facebook post. These include automotive, aircraft maintenance, construction, criminal justice, emergency medical services, healthcare, industrial/manufacturing, information technology, transportation and fire and rescue services.
Those interested in applying for the scholarship should reach out to Maxine Cooper at 919-739-6938 or email her at MCooper@waynecc.edu.
The college also has additional information about scholarships available to students on its website.
