County of Wayne issued the following announcement on Oct. 29. 

On Monday, November 1, 2021, the Wayne County Health Department will move all COVID-19 vaccinations and testing to 1322 W. Grantham Street in Goldsboro. This location is the former Food Lion in the Little River Square shopping center. Our move to this facility will allow the Health Department to continue mass vaccinations & testing as long as needed. Walk-ins will be accepted, but appointments are strongly encouraged to ensure that the Health Department has the COVID-19 vaccine you prefer. 

First or Second Dose

It's easy to get a COVID-19 vaccine from the Wayne County Health Department. Everyone 12 or older is eligible! Just schedule an appointment online at www.waynegov.com/vaccine.

Booster Doses

To receive a booster shot, you must be fully vaccinated for six months and be in one of the groups below:

• 65 years or older
• You live or work in a nursing home or long-term care residential facility
• You have a medical condition that puts you at high risk for severe illness (for example, obesity, asthma, heart disease, high blood pressure, and diabetes)
• You work in a high-risk profession, meaning you come into contact with a lot of people, and you don’t know their vaccination status (for example, health care workers, first responders, teachers, food processing workers, retail and restaurant workers, and public transportation workers)
• You live or work in a place where many people live together (for example, homeless shelters, correctional facilities, migrant farm housing, dormitories or other group living settings in colleges or universities)

Moderna Booster Information

The Health Department will be receiving a shipment of the Moderna vaccine for booster shots starting Tuesday, November 2, 2021. Please schedule an appointment on or after November 2 to receive a Moderna booster. Our supply of Moderna is limited and an appointment is recommended to ensure your dose is available.

Pfizer Booster Information

The Health Department continues to administer the Pfizer booster and has a good supply of doses available.

Need testing?

The Wayne County Health Department is offering free rapid COVID-19 testing Monday through Friday from 9-11:30 a.m. and 1-4:30 p.m. at 210 Dixie Trail in Goldsboro. Testing will be first come, first served in a drive through setting. Individuals will enter the parking lot at 210 Dixie Trail in Goldsboro and will follow the signage for rapid testing. Results will be provided on-site after the testing is completed.

CDC guidelines recommend COVID-19 testing for:

• People who have symptoms of COVID-19
• Most people who have had close contact (within 6 feet for a total of 15 minutes or more over a 24-hour period) with someone with confirmed COVID-19.
  1. Fully vaccinated people should be tested 3-5 days following a known exposure to someone with suspected or confirmed COVID-19 and wear a mask in public indoor settings for 14 days or until they receive a negative test result.
  2. People who have tested positive for COVID-19 within the past 3 months and recovered do not need to get tested following an exposure as long as they do not develop new symptoms.
• Unvaccinated people who have taken part in activities that put them at higher risk for COVID-19 because they cannot physically distance as needed to avoid exposure, such as travel, attending large social or mass gatherings, or being in crowded or poorly-ventilated indoor settings.

CDC recommends that anyone with any signs or symptoms of COVID-19 get tested, regardless of vaccination status or prior infection.
