CITY OF KINSTON: Send Condolences To The Family Of Former Mayor Johnnie Mosley

Funeral

City of Kinston issued the following announcement on May 16.

The City of Kinston and our Kinston Public Services family send condolences to the family of our former Mayor Johnnie Mosley. In 1987, Johnnie Mosley joined the Kinston City Council and was then elected Mayor of Kinston where he served from 1998-2004. In 1999, the former Peachtree Wastewater Treatment Plant flooded during Hurricane Floyd. Because of the tireless efforts and dedication of Mayor Mosley, the City received a $35 million grant from the Federal Emergency Management Association. These funds, allowed the City to demolish Peachtree and expand the existing Northside Treatment Plant to what is now known as the Johnnie Mosley Regional Water Reclamation Facility. This state of the art facility which now bears his name has the capacity to treat 11.85 million gallons per day. The City of Kinston and Kinston Public Services will be forever grateful to Mayor Mosley and continue to honor him for his dedication, perseverance, and vision in securing the future needs and industrial growth for our County and City.
