County of Wayne issued the following announcement on June 6.
Today, the Wayne County Board of Commissioners voted unanimously to appoint Assistant County Manager Chip Crumpler to the county manager position after Craig Honeycutt’s departure at the end of the month.
Crumpler was born in Goldsboro, attended Goldsboro High School, and graduated from East Carolina University. He began working for Wayne County in the Planning Department on June 1, 2000. He was later promoted to planning director and was named assistant county manager in February 2018.
