City of Clinton Police Department issued the following announcement on Aug. 9.

Unintentional heat stroke in vehicles bring tragedies to families every year. The Clinton Police Department wants to remind citizens to take precautions during this hot weather.

1. Never leave children or pets alone in cars; not even for a minute. Interior temperature rises quickly

2. “Look Before You lock”. Form the habit of always checking the back seat before leaving your vehicle. Make sure no child nor pet has been left behind.

3. Create a reminder to check the back seat. For example, putting your cell phone, handbag, brief case etc. in the back seat so that you have to check the back every time you stop or park.

4. Keep car keys and remote openers out of reach of children. Prevent any chance they accidentally lock themselves in the car.

If you see a child alone in a vehicle, help. Call 911 immediately. If the child seems hot or sick, get them out of the vehicle as soon as possible.
