The rising standard of living in the United States has reached a point where many Americans require over $10,000 simply to maintain a comfortable lifestyle. This is according to an article by CBS News that examines how the cost of living has surged since 2021. The cost hike presents financial challenges for many families even amidst declining inflation and a strong economy.

These economic hurdles persist despite the overall strength of the American economy, marked by a significant decrease in unemployment, reaching its lowest point in two decades, as reported by CBS News. The assessment conducted by Republican members from the U.S. Senate Joint Economic Committee employed government data such as the Consumer Price Index and Consumer Expenditure Survey to gauge inflation's impact across different states.

Despite these improvements in the economy, many Americans report not feeling any positive financial impact. A recent CBS News poll revealed more individuals voicing financial hardship this fall compared to periods prior to the pandemic outbreak. Inflation remains at the forefront of reasons behind this economic uncertainty for Americans, regardless of positive trends like wage increases observed recently.

Economic experts identify multiple factors linked to elevated inflation levels rather than solely blaming specific political party decisions, as per another CBS News article. Both former President Donald Trump and current President Joe Biden have approved spending bills leading to stimulus funds distribution among millions of citizens. Difficulties within global supply chains and labor shortages led to increased costs for various goods and services. Even with signs pointing towards slowing inflation currently, a sizeable number of consumers claim they are yet to feel its effects positively. Bankrate's latest survey results indicate that 60% of working-class Americans feel their income hasn't caught up with inflation over the past year.
