9.3% of Lenoir County residents considered unemployed in 2021

Lenoir County recorded an unemployment rate of 9.3% among residents aged 16 and 65 years old in 2021. That’s 2,320 people out of the 55,344 living in Lenoir County at the time, according to data obtained from the U.S. Census Bureau.

The unemployment rate in Lenoir County has increased compared to the 8.9% registered in 2020.

The percentage of people unemployed in Lenoir County was greater than the statewide unemployment rate of 5.2%.

Of the 22,692 people who had a job during that time, 87 were employed in the Armed Forces and 22,605 belonged to the civilian labor force.
