FOIA Request Sent to Duplin County Election Department Regarding Pre-Election Voting Machine Test Reports on October 30, 2024

FOIA Request to Duplin County Election Department Regarding Pre-Election Voting Machine Test Reports on October 30, 2024.

As part of our ongoing commitment to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at EC North Carolina News have submitted a request for public records under the North Carolina Public Records Law, G.S. §132-1.

Our request specifically pertains to the pre-election test reports of voting machines used in the upcoming elections. We have asked for these reports to be provided in PDF format and to include key details such as the test date, machine manufacturer, machine model number, and machine status (whether it passed or failed the test).

Access to these public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities, which include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. As a media organization involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver.

We await a response from the Duplin County Election Department and will continue to keep our readers informed about this important aspect of election integrity.
