County of Wayne issued the following announcement on March 23.

Congratulations to the Wayne County Public Library for receiving the Spirit of North Carolina Award for Leading through the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Lens from the United Way of North Carolina.

 Library Director Donna Phillips also received a Spirit of North Carolina Award for her work with the United Way of Wayne County, North Carolina.

The annual Spirit of North Carolina Award celebrates organizations for their exemplary partnership demonstrated through fundraising and volunteer efforts, outstanding leadership, and creative team building. Additionally, organizations focusing on DEI values and individuals who are champions of United Way are also celebrated.
