Wayne County Public Schools issued the following announcement on Sept. 30.

WCPS will be CLOSED Friday, September 30 for Students & Staff 

In preparation for tropical storm conditions from Ian which may result in unsafe road conditions and the need for emergency shelters to open, WCPS is taking the following steps:

• All schools will be CLOSED for students and staff on Friday, September 30.

• All athletic events, practices, driver’s education programs, SAT testing, and any other scheduled activities between Friday and Sunday are canceled.

• All WCPS campuses will be CLOSED throughout the weekend in order for school and maintenance staff to assess buildings and grounds.
